Letter board

Go Get It

See I have given you this land. Go and take possession. Deut 1:8

One day I found this letter board on clearance.  I knew I wanted to put it in my breakfast nook where I often have my quiet time with the Lord.

I asked God what I should put on it, and immediately this verse came to mind.  I had to look it up because I wasn’t even sure where it was.

In this passage, Moses is speaking to all of Israel.  After having wandered in the wilderness for 40 years, a journey greatly extended due to the nation’s unbelief, the Promised Land is before them.

It was promised to them, but they had to do their part.  They had to go and take possession of it.

Had they chosen to stay on Mt. Sinai, the Promised Land although rightfully theirs would never have belonged to them.

So what about our Promised Land?

God’s promises for each one of us are woven throughout scriptures.

He promises to NEVER LEAVE us.

He promises to FIGHT for us.

He promises to FORGIVE us.

He promises ETERNAL LIFE for those that choose to follow Him.

He promises to RENEW OUR STRENGTH.

He promises to SET US FREE.

He promises us PEACE if we keep our minds on Him.

He promises NOT TO HARM us, but to give us HOPE and A FUTURE.

The list is extensive.  Thousands deep.

But then there are also the promises that God has personally written on our hearts.  You know the ones I’m talking about, that He has whispered in the quiet of our thoughts.  And also precious are the promises He has delivered through His Spirit-led servants.  Prophetic words from the heart of God.

Can you think of those?  Do you write them down?

I have one crudely taped up on my desk that God spoke to me a couple of years ago.

You do the work and I will bless it - God

At the time, I was seeking God’s direction for my writing.  Trying hard to figure out what it should look like.  Really belaboring the details.

I asked for specific direction, but what He gave me instead was His promise to bless my efforts, however big or small they might be.  I think sometimes we ask for a checklist, and He lovingly gives us a blank canvas.

So our Promised Land is before us, and we need to ACT in order to take possession of it.   In my case, if I don’t write, then I’ve given Him nothing to bless.

What about you?  What has God promised you?

Are you moving to take possession  …. or are you still on Mt. Sinai?

Regardless of your answer, this moment can be a new beginning.  You can choose to take a step towards your Promised Land.  Go and take possession of what He has promised you.  I guarantee it will be so much better than staying where you are.

I cling to God, knowing He is allowing everything we are going through and helping us through it.

So I have been asking God to give me direction on the way forward. Sensing it is time for a reset. This word is right on time and spoke loudly to me that the canvas is blank and God is inviting me to paint my picture and He will bless it!
    Thank you Joy! ❤️
